The game is developed by Gravity a Korean company primarily known for developing the MMORPG (massively-multiplayer online role-playing games) Ragnarok Online.
The game will only be available in Southeast Asian; however, it will also be released in other regions gradually. Similar to the original Ragnarok, it was first released in Korea then elsewhere based on its populartiy. Ragnarok games have been immensely popular in the Asian region since they launch the first Ragnarok game in the early 2000s. With this, the developers can hopefully bring their experience in developing actual games and identifying bugs and glitches with the game before releasing it globally. Will this translate into the NFT economy? It remains to be seen. Its grand launch is April 27, 2022.
This Ragnarok NFT game has a different take on the MMORPG genre, players will need to explore the game’s labyrinth to acquire rewards and level up their characters. Players will come across unique mazes, dungeons, puzzles, and monsters to progress into the game. There will also be a Party Mode that will allow players to team up with other players, in addition, the game will have both PvP and PvE modes.
The game’s aim is not just to provide an amazing gaming experience, but also to reward players with digital assets for every minute spent playing the game. Furthermore, the game includes character customizations and players will be able to exchange, sell, and trade their in-game items.
For the NFT side of things, the game will revolve around the ONBUFF coins which can be earned by completing the usual in-game tasks like defeating MVP monsters (big boss battles), finishing daily quests, unlocking achievements and more. The token that may be traded and earned in the game are ONBUFF Coins (ONIT). These ONBUFF coins can be traded via the decentralized finance (Defi) system as well as in NFT form. Though as of now, there isn’t much info on how this works. The other coins that players can encounter in the game are NEWTON and ONIT. NEWTON is going to be the governance token and ONIT, a token that can be converted into cryptocurrency through blockchain technology.
Like many MMORPGs out there, players can pick from various jobs/classes. Classes will help players choose how they want the game to be played. As of now, there are six jobs/classes players can choose from; these are:
